Is Celsius More Healthy Than Monster? (Stand-Off) – REIZECLUB

Over the years, many energy drinks have started to call themselves healthy drinks when there aren’t any institutions that back them up. My personal opinion is that no energy drink is healthy since they primarily contain ingredients like caffeine or sugar that can have detrimental effects on your health.

However, I do think it’s possible to pick an energy drink that has the least health risks. These would be the brands that have minimal caffeine, sugar, and calories.

Celsius is marketed as a fitness drink with thermogenic properties. It contains 200 mg of caffeine, B and C vitamins, and no sugar and calories. Meanwhile, Monster Energy is a classic energy drink brand that comes with 160mg of caffeine, 190 calories, and 54g of sugars.

Just off these details alone, you can get the sense that Celsius may be better for your health. I agree with this but let’s look a little deeper, shall we?

Let’s get started.

How Healthy are Energy Drinks?

As I said, energy drinks aren’t really healthy. The fact that you need to take it with sincere discipline should give you an idea.

Too much caffeine and sugar common in energy drinks are not that good for your body in the long-term run. However, there are energy drinks available with little caffeine or zero sugar. These energy drinks are a healthier choice for me.

But if you want to be sure you are taking a healthy beverage, you can settle with juices or water. In fact, there are homemade energy drinks that you can create on your own. Find out the steps in this article.

As long as you don’t have any complications that prohibit you from drinking energy drinks, you should be OK. Having them only when needed will not result in serious health problems.

Celsius Vs. Monster Nutrition Facts

Some individuals consider a product more healthy if it has more nutrients. If you do so, too, Celsius would be the healthier choice for you.

To get an idea of their contents, I’ve put them side-by-side on this table:

Standard Values Celsius (per 12 fl.oz) Monster (per 16 fl.oz)
Energy 10 calories 21 calories
Protein
Fat 0g 0g
Carbohydrates (Of Which Sugars) 2g 54g
Sodium 0g 370mg
Caffeine 200mg 160mg
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 1.7mg 3.6mg
Vitamin B3 (niacin) 20mg 4.6mg
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) 10mg
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) 2mg 4.6mg
Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 6μg 13 µg

Biotin 300μg

But that’s not everything you can find inside Celsius and Monster. The following pictures below will show you what other ingredients they contain:

Monster Label

Celsius Energy Other Ingredients.

Celsius Vs. Monster Caffeine

Celsius has 200mg of caffeine per can, while Monster has only 160mg.

If you need the motivation to exercise, caffeine can help you with this. Don’t you know that caffeine can enhance your mood to exercise and boost cognitive functions? No wonder you can get a surge of alertness for coffee alone.

Because you’ll likely be more awake than your current state when you haven’t taken any caffeine, I bet you wouldn’t waste that just to sit around the corner.

However, some individuals have a high tolerance to caffeine, which means they need a much higher dose of caffeine to feel its effects. If you’re one of them, it’s better for you to go with Celsius.

Celsius Vs. Monster Sugar

Celsius is sugar-free, while Monster has 54g of sugar. According to this article, the amount in Monster might be dangerous to your health. Because you only need 30g of sugar per daygoing above that level can result in sugar crashes.

Whether you are taking energy drinks for a game or a physical workout, a sudden drop in your energy wouldn’t be suitable for your performance.

Here are other signs of sugar crashes.

Take it from a doctor.

Almost all the products you take every day have sugar in them. In line with this, I see no reason to go for an energy drink with too much sugar in it.

Think twice if you can handle the sugar content before trying Monster energy drink.

Celsius And Monster Side Effects

You can get many possible side effects from taking any of these two. You can have insomnia, headaches, and heart attacks because of consuming too much caffeine.

This is why the FDA advises it’s only safe for you to have up to 400mg of caffeine per day. If you happen to take more than what’s recommended, you’ll suffer from caffeine overdose.

On the other hand, too much sugar can give you extra weight. According to this study, there’s also a high chance of kidney disease.

How Do You Know if an Energy Drink is Healthy?

First of all, you’ll need to have a look at the nutrients and other ingredients of the energy drink. Make sure you’re taking sugar and caffeine at a safe level.

Check if the energy drink is vegan-friendly or suitable for a keto diet. Vegan-friendly energy drinks use plant-based ingredients. I also suggest you look up its other contents and check whether the dosage is in line with it.

Because water is the healthiest beverage of all that you can think of, I’m siding with consuming powdered energy drinks. Consuming powdered energy drinks can help you with your water intake and keep your body hydrated.

Is One Energy Drink a Day OK?

Experts say that if you would take energy drink every day, limit your consumption to only one can or serving. This is because if you take too much, the artificial contents inside it could build up and harm your body.

Other articles suggest that it’s still OK to take even two energy drinks per day. Anyway, I think you should only drink more than one serving if it contains a low amount of caffeine and sugar.

What Happens if you drink 3 Cans of Monster in a Day?

In this case, you’re more vulnerable to caffeine and sugar crashes. It could lead to caffeine toxicity, resulting in tremors and chances of strokes.

You might consume them expecting a jolt of energy, but there’s a chance that it might backfire and cause complications. On the other hand, if you rely on the power they can provide you, you’ll be dependent on them.

One symptom that you’re energy drinks dependent on is that you consume too many of them on the same day. Another is when you suffer from headaches every time you skip your energy drinks session.

While you can’t remove this instantly, you can recover from it by cutting your energy intake little by little every day. One day you’ll wake up and won’t feel the need for it.

That’s why you should only consume energy drinks when it’s necessary.

Is Celsius the Healthiest Energy Drink?

I cannot really say that Celsius is the healthiest energy drink. Sure, it has vitamin C that’s good for your immune system and B Vitamins that can help you maintain good health. Plus, it’s vegan-friendly.

However, if I want to consume Celsius, I usually go with the powdered version. Its powdered version is called Celsius On-the-go.

It has the same content as the canned version and it’s more flexible since it allows you to control your dosage much more.

Which Energy Drink is Healthiest?

If you’re looking for the healthiest energy drinks, you can see my list on this link. Aside from that, I think these energy drinks would be a good option.

Monster Zero Ultra

Monster has this version that also has 160mg of caffeine. This is by far the healthiest Monster version and still has the signature Monster flavor!

By the way, Monster Energy has a lot of variations, and this one doesn’t have any sugar and calories. Also, you can have this one in different flavors.

Red Bull

Red Bull has less caffeine and sugar than Monster or Celsius. It has 80mg of caffeine and 27g, that’s actually near the limit. It’s a good thing it’s not that much than what Monster has.

This energy drink is popular in any sports event worldwide. Therefore, I think even if it has a low amount of caffeine, it would still work fine in enhancing your performance. Before I forget, Red Bull has a sugar-free version as well.

So, if you’re not comfortable with its sugar content, you can still have the same beverage, just minus the sugar.

REIZE (Top Pick)

REIZE is the healthiest option compared to Celsius and Monster. It’s packed with taurine, Vitamin Bs, and ginseng that can level up your performance while guarding your body’s health.

Moreover, it has no sugar and uses only 50mg of caffeine. Just like Celsius, it contains only a few calories.

It can also help you drink water more, for it comes in powdered form. You can mix REIZE in cold or hot water depending on your need. I love how convenient the sachets are and that I can whip up a fresh glass anytime I want.

Reize Energy Drink

You can get REIZE for only around $1 and you can even have your orders shipped straight to your door.

Final Verdict

For me, Celsius is a much healthier choice because it has some additional nutrients and zero sugar. As you can see, my favorite beverage doesn’t contain any sugar as well.

I also like how it has nutrients such as Biotin, which are beneficial to your skin and hair. This is one of the factors that make Celsius different from Monster. Although Monster has sodiumCelsius is packed with Vitamin C, which is also good for your bones.

Anyway, whichever you choose from these two, don’t drink two servings in one day. This can prevent you from suffering possible side effects.

Is Celsius Energy Drink Healthy? (Revealed) – REIZECLUB

I know a lot of brands out there claim that their products are healthy. But let’s get to the point: energy drinks are actually not healthy for you. However, it doesn’t have any terrible effects either for as long as you consume it in moderation.

Celsius, in particular, is a brand that has built an image that centers on its health benefits. And it’s easy to see why! After all, the energy drink has a ton of micronutrients, thermogenic properties, and minimal caffeine and sugar.

But as I said, I wouldn’t really call Celsius healthy, especially if this claim can lead consumers to let loose and consume too much.

In this article, I’ll be doing a deep dive on Celsius’ ingredients and see if it really is good for your health!

Let’s start exploring.

What’s In A Can of Celsius Energy Drink?

I’ve listed here the nutritional value you can get out of a 12 fl. oz (355ml) can of Celsius:

Elements Amount Per Can
Carbohydrates 2g
Caffeine 200mg
Vitamin C 60mg
Riboflavin 1.7mg
Niacin 20mg
Pantothenic Acid 10mg
Pyridoxine 1mg
Biotin 300mcg
Cobalmin 6mcg
Calcium 50mg
Chromium 50mcg
Sodium 0g
Nutritional Value of Celsius.

Celsius Ingredients

This energy drink has a Meta plus Proprietary Blend. A proprietary blend is a group of other ingredients used in any product in which the medication isn’t disclosed.

You can find the following ingredients in a can of Celsius:

  • Taurine
  • Guarana extract
  • Glucuronolactone
  • Ginger root extract
  • Green tea leaf extract
  • Carbonated filtered water
  • Citric acid
  • Fruit juice
  • vegetable juice
  • Sucralose
  • Natural flavor

I’m glad to see that many natural ingredients like Ginger root, green tea, and fruit extracts had come to the Celsius ingredients list.

Moreover, it has Biotin, which benefits your hair and skin. It’s kind of unusual because this vitamin isn’t common in energy drinks. But, it’s actually a good thing because it’s beneficial to your skin and hair.

How Much Caffeine is in Celsius?

There is around 200mg of caffeine in a can of Celsius. As I’ve mentioned before, caffeine can help you work out effectively.

While it doesn’t directly give you energy, it can make your mind alert, encouraging you to finish your task.

Whether it’s physical or mental work, Celsius has got you covered. It can even boost your cognitive performance just like coffee but much more powerful. However, there’s only a limit to caffeine you should take per day.

Are Celsius Drinks Good for You?

According to its makers, Celsius is good for you. As for me, I think they emphasize more on the part where it can help you burn calories and bad fats.

This article claims that taking caffeine before exercise can increase your fat oxidation. And this works at any time of the day.

It can’t be denied that Celsius is suitable for activity because of its caffeine content. Plus, the micronutrients can enhance your mental performance too, so that all sounds good to me.

Bottom label of Celsius
Closer look.

What are the Side Effects of Celsius Energy Drinks?

According to the FDA, you need to keep your caffeine consumption below 400mg per day. Following their instructions can help you avoid the side effects of caffeine overdose.

In case of a caffeine overdose, you may experience one or a combination of the following symptoms:

  • Headaches
  • Fever
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Palpitations
  • Nervousness

In addition, it can also cause anxiety and insomnia. My advice is, don’t take it hours before you go to sleep because 200mg of caffeine can keep you up until the mornings.

Do You Drink Celsius Before or After a Workout?

It’s preferable to drink Celsius in the morning before any physical activity. While you can also make it as a replacement to your usual coffee, you shouldn’t make it as one, especially if you don’t have any physically demanding tasks.

This energy drink will reveal its boosting effects within 15-20 minutes of consuming it. Don’t expect that it’ll work instantly because it won’t.

However, for other individuals, the effects might be different. For example, if you have a high tolerance for caffeine, it could work much later.

In case your tolerance is low, there’s a chance you’ll experience the effects sooner. Just be careful, though, as 200mg of caffeine might be enough for you to suffer from caffeine crashes.

Does Celsius Contain Any Added Sugar?

Celsius is sugar-free, and it uses an artificial sweetener called sucralose instead. This sucralose doesn’t add any additional calories to your diet.

Products use artificial sweeteners in replacement of natural sugar. As you may know, overconsuming sugar is also bad for your health. According to this article, you’re only allowed to take 30g of sugar per day.

While some advise that 40g of sugar is still okay, I don’t think you should consume so much sugar regularly. For me, the lesser, the better, and that’s the same with caffeine.

Aside from sugar crashes, products with artificial sweeteners can help your insulin resistance. This makes it an approved substance for people with diabetes. Moreover, using artificial sweeteners also prevents sudden headaches.

That could help a little in countering the headaches you might get from caffeine crashes. However, it isn’t a reason to drink more servings. Remember that artificial sweeteners are bad for long-term use as well.

Is Celsius Really Bad for Your Heart?

Energy drinks as a whole can be bad for your heart, so you should be wary. While Celsius has a lot of caffeine, it shouldn’t be terrible for your heart unless you have an underlying heart condition.

Limiting yourself to one serving of Celsius per day is also important to stay safe.

If you watch this video, you’ll find out it’s the same for most energy drinks.

The doctor says energy drinks are also bad for your kidney!

Energy drinks can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. So, stop consuming Celsius and start drinking water as soon as you experience these bad effects.

Also, consult a doctor if you experience any irregularities.

Is Celsius Healthier than Monster?

A single can of Monster Energy contains 160mg of caffeine, which is a bit lower than what Celsius has.

You’ll notice that Celsius has more nutrients than Monster on a quick look. Traveling, both of them are still unhealthy. Therefore, don’t think of relying on energy drinks for a boost.

It’s much better to rely on good sleep and follow a proper diet for energy. It doesn’t have to be a lot of sleeping hours. The quality of your sleep should be there.

Remember that the FDA didn’t really say that energy drinks are healthy. But to avoid any side effects and health problems, they made guidelines as to how much of the ingredients is still safe for you to take.

Which reminds me, Monster has 54g of sugar. This amount is definitely above the suggested sugar limit. If you think your body can’t take it, just stick to other sugar-free beverages.

Is Celsius Healthy to Drink Every day?

You’re allowed to take it every day. But I don’t think that’s healthy. Remember, these energy drinks have synthetic ingredients.

These ingredients are harmful to your body. You have to let your body rest from artificial ingredients sometimes. If you really can’t help taking energy drinks, at least have one can only every other day.

In my opinion, if you are going to drink it every day, you better keep it to one can a day only!

Energy Drink Alternatives to Celsius

Zipfizz

Zipfizz is a powdered energy drink with caffeine from guarana seed, only 100mg. Aside from that, it’s also rich in taurine and L-Arginine with only a few added calories.

Zipfizz doesn’t have any sugar content, just like Celsius. It uses substances like xylitol and sucralose for the sweet flavor of the beverage.

Ghost Gamer

One sachet of Ghost Gamer has 75mg of caffeine. This dosage might be little than Celsius has, but you can also add your dosage if you buy their tub version. You can use it as an effective pre-workout energy drink with two scoops of it.

This vegan energy drink is also packed with taurine, L-Tyrosine, and other nutrients. It’s indeed a good drink for physical and mental activities because it has these contents.

REIZE (The Best)

REIZE is my bet because of its sugar-free nature and only 50mg of caffeine. Plus, it would give you a compelling lift in energy without causing crashes.

REIZE Energy Drink
REIZE Energy Drink.

It’s also enclosed in a conservative 4g powdered sachet which you can mix in hot or cold water. Moreover, it’s rich in B Vitamins, Taurine, and ginseng, which are suitable for your overall well-being. I love how I can take the sachets with me anywhere and whip up a fresh glass!

I also like its gentle and more natural taste than any other energy drink. more, I like how it’s free of sugar and has just enough caffeine for a solid energy boost without causing jitters.

You can get REIZE for only around $1 and you can even have your orders shipped straight to your door. That’s amazing value for your money.

Try REIZE now!

Other Notable Mentions

The Final Say

Generally, Celsius has no sugar, which somehow makes it a little better than sugary energy drinks. It’s also beneficial to your workout goal, but that’s not enough to say it’s healthy.

Besides, it can still make your body suffer from side effects if you happen to consume much of it. But if you drink it every once in a while and drink it moderatelyit should be fine for you!

That said, remember not to mix it with any alcohol to avoid more harmful effects on your health.

Healthy Energy Drink Alternatives (Best Options) – REIZECLUB

Most of us turn to energy drinks for a much-needed energy boost. Obviously, highly proven brands such as Monster, Red Bull, and G Fuel dominate our market.

But as popular as energy drinks are, there have also long been questions about their potential negative side effects.

While certain studies have proven that energy drinks may cause adverse health issues, some studies say otherwise. In fact, this study states that it depends on your consumption.

To be more specific, you have to choose an energy drink brand with the right ingredients as well as caffeine content, since we can have varying caffeine tolerances.

To counter these claims, many energy drinks brands have put out more health-focused energy drink products with naturally-derived ingredients and minimal caffeine and sugar content.

Still, I’m reluctant to call any energy drink “healthy”. But as I said, it’s a matter of choosing the right energy drink for your lifestyle and needs!

Continue reading for my list of energy drink alternatives you can pick to avoid pesky side effects!

Let’s get into the details.

Are Energy Drinks Healthy?

First of all, energy drinks aren’t healthy. And that’s only because the FDA didn’t make any specific announcement to treat it as one. However, energy drinks’ contents follow the FDA guidelines.

Energy drinks are also not dietary supplements that can replace meals, despite the calorie content.

But it all comes down to the caffeine and sugar content. Even if the brand is sugar-free or has low caffeine, if you consume the drink excessively, you’ll find yourself experiencing some nasty side effects like headaches or insomnia.

Listen as he talks about specific ingredients you should avoid.

What to Drink Other Than Energy Drinks?

Because energy drinks are not entirely healthy, you might be having a double-take for now. Luckily, there are other options that you could try in case you want a 100% healthy beverage.

Water

First on the list would be water. Unlike energy drinks, we always need water to survive. Don’t you know that our body comprises 60% water?

Because we’re composed of water, it’s recommended that we drink at least eight glasses of water every day. If you’re constantly feeling tired and sleepy, you might not have been drinking enough water.

According to this article, not drinking enough water can cause fatigue. If your pee is dark yellow, that’s a sign that you’re dehydrated. That means you need to drink water more.

Coffee

If it’s only the caffeine you want in an energy drink, why don’t you try coffee instead? A cup of coffee can provide you with 80-100mg of caffeine, and that’s enough to wake up your whole system.

It may not be obvious, but coffee also contains antioxidants and vitamins such as riboflavin and potassium. It also claims to lessen depression, but I guess just drinking it alone can pretty much take your stress away.

Check out my article on energy drinks vs coffee to see how they’re similar and different from each other.

Orange juice and oranges.
Of course, all fruit shakes are healthy!

How to Know Which Energy Drinks are Healthy?

I’ve come up with a checklist of things to look out for in a good energy drink brand that won’t harm your health!

Low on Sugar

If an energy drink has a high sugar level, that’s not a healthy energy drink for you. Sugar is a common ingredient in an energy drink. That’s because it can give you a quick energy boost and a good taste experience.

However, I don’t think you must look for high sugar content. Because you consume too much sugar, it can lead to sugar crashes. That would go against your workout routine and fitness goals because it can lead to weight gain.

This article advises you to keep your sugar consumption at 30g per day to prevent that. So, I guess the lower the sugar amount is in an energy drink, the better option it could be. However, some energy drinks don’t use natural sugar but instead artificial sweeteners.

Artificial sweeteners are FDA-approved and suitable even for people with diabetes. Moreover, they can also prevent you from gaining extra weight because they have no additional calories.

Low in Caffeine

Just like sugar, the lesser the caffeine amount is, the better. Some energy drink brands have high caffeine content, while others keep it low.

This actually has its own pros and cons. For example, too much can lead to caffeine crashes, wherein too low can make you feel no power boost at all. However, It mostly depends on your caffeine tolerance and the intensity of your activities for the day.

I don’t think a 30-minute jog would require lots of caffeine. But if you’re going weightlifting, then I guess two cans of energy drink would be enough. Just take note that the highest level of caffeine you can find in an energy drink is 300mg, such as Redline Xtreme Energy and G Fuel.

This is actually in the warning level because the recommended amount of caffeine you’re only allowed to take is at 400mg set by the FDA. If you consume over that amount, it could lead to Headaches, anxiety, and even fever.

Coffee beans
Watch your caffeine intake.

Other Ingredients

In addition, energy drinks contain other ingredients like taurine and B vitamins for an extra energy boost.

Taurine

According to this study, taurine combined with caffeine can boost your mental performance. Most energy drinks contain 1000mg of taurine.

This might scare you because it’s such a high amount. However, taurine is beneficial to your body by lowering your blood pressure and calming the nervous system. Because of this, It’s safe to take up to 3000mg of taurine per day.

Vitamin B

In addition, the Vitamin B complex helps prevent infections, Thus strengthening the health of your cells. Other than that, it could also support the following:

  • Red blood cell development
  • Energy levels
  • Good eyesight
  • Healthy brain function
  • Smooth digestion
  • healthy appetite
  • Nerve function
  • Hormones production
  • cholesterol production
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Muscle tone

As you can see, it has so many benefits to your body. However, it’s not safe to take too much of it. Unlike taurine, consuming enormous amounts of B vitamins can negatively affect your health.

Here is the daily amount recommendation according to this article:

B Vitamins For Women For Men
B1 1.1mg 1.2mg
B2 1.1mg 1.3mg
B3 14mg 16mg
B5 5mg 5mg
B6 1.3mg 1.3mg
B8 30mcg 30mcg
Folic Acid 400mcg 400mcg
B12 2.4mcg 2.4mcg
B Vitamins Daily Recommendation.

Herbal Supplement

There are also energy drinks that use herbal supplements such as ginseng and guarana. The extract you can get from these two has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Just like caffeine, ginseng is also linked to increased alertness and reaction. On the other hand, guarana has caffeine in it. But aside from that, it also contains theophylline and theobromine, which are mild muscle relaxants.

How Much Energy Drink Should You Take Per Day?

According to this article, it’s safe to take two servings or two cans of energy drinks. However, I think that would depend on its contents.

In case you’re a kid or pregnant, you need to avoid energy drinks at all costs. Otherwise, energy drinks can be harmful to you. That’s why you should consider taking natural beverage for your health and the health of your baby instead.

Aspire is a healthier choice because it’s sugar-free and has a low caffeine content at only 80mg. With 80mg of caffeine, Aspire could give you a fair lift, as well as a boost on your mental concentration.

Moreover, I like Aspire Energy primarily because it claims to be vegan-friendly. This instantly can make you think like the drink is healthy, right? As I checked its content, I saw no problem at all.

In addition, the caffeine inside Aspire is from green tea and guarana seed. This could quicken your metabolism and help you take away more calories during exercise. Moreover, it also has vitamin Bs and vitamin C, essential to your well-being.

Guru

Another energy drink with a reasonable amount of caffeine is the Guru energy drink. It has only 100 mg of caffeine and has Natural ingredients such as green tea, echinacea flower extract, and Panax ginseng root extract.

You would only not have a dose of energy but antioxidants as well. 22g of sugar came from an organic cane syrup instead of processed sugar. Even though it’s a healthier choice, it’s still best to keep your intake at only one can per day.

ZipFizz

ZipFizz is a powdered energy drink that’s pretty convenient. A single-serve contains 100mg of caffeine and 0g of sugar, and other ingredients commonly found in energy drinks, such as B vitamins.

I’m just not fond of its high vitamin B12 amount, 41,667% of the daily value. Even though B Vitamins are water-soluble and won’t probably lead to any harmful side effects, it’s still much safer to be wary.

REIZE (Highly-Recommended)

REIZE is the healthiest energy drink for me. That’s because it only has 50mg of caffeine per powdered stick.

Moreover, it doesn’t have any natural sugar and uses artificial sweeteners instead.

It also has additional nutrients such as taurine and B Vitamins. Aside from that, it has ginseng too that could help enable your efficiency and productivity. If you’re caffeine sensitive and you love living an active lifestyle, REIZE is your best option.

It’s also so flexible since it comes in handy 4g sachets that you can carry around anywhere. Just add water, and you can have yourself tasty energy enhanced by a great beverage. Isn’t that amazing? Furthermore, you can also control your dose much better with powdered energy drinks like REIZE.

You can get REIZE for only around $1 and you can even have your orders shipped straight to your door!

Try REIZE now and experience energy without any jitters from crashes.

Other Notable Mentions

Final Thoughts

Energy drinks are an excellent companion for your daily activities. And while they aren’t treated as a healthy option, they still have benefits to your body that can help you be healthy.

Some energy drinks contain nutritious ingredients. And you just have to a closer look to find the right one.

Growth, you can keep your body healthy by eating a proper diet and resting well. Moreover, if consuming an energy drink is really necessary, check its contents first and go with the one that you’ll be able to handle!

We absolutely love smoothies! We could drink smoothies for breakfast, have a smoothie as a snack, and even drink a smoothie every night for dessert. We just can’t get enough!

two silver electric blenders
Best Smoothie Maker

There are so many fantastic smoothie recipes to try, all of which are even easier to whip up using a great smoothie maker. We are going to take a look at the top smoothie makers on the market to see which is really the best smoothie maker out there. We want only the best to help us make our beloved smoothies!

What is a Smoothie Maker?

We have all heard of the ninja smoothie maker or seen people walking around with a smoothie blender cup in their hands. But what exactly is a smoothie maker? And how is it different from a regular blender?

A smoothie maker is a small, handheld blender that is perfectly sized to make individual smoothies. Smoothie makers tend to have very sharp blades, perfect for turning fruits and veggies into purees quite quickly.

Lots of smoothie makers are designed to also be used as a cup for drinking the smoothie after it is blended. This is definitely a feature to look for and something that sets a smoothie maker apart from a regular old blender.

What to Look For in a Smoothie Maker

There are a few things that you should look for when comparing smoothie makers. Here are a few features of smoothie makers that we love.

  • Rechargeable battery– You don’t want to be replacing batteries all the time! A rechargeable smoothie maker is your best bet.
  • Multiple blades– smoothie makers with multiple blades will puree fruit and veggies best. Look for a smoothie maker with at least 4 blades.
  • Dishwasher safe– a smoothie blender cup that is dishwasher safe will be the most convenient. Many of the cups are dishwasher safe.
  • A big blender cup– Most smoothie recipes make smoothies that are at least 12 ounces. You want a cup that is 12 ounces at the minimum. A bigger cup is even better!
  • Portable– A smoothie maker that is portable can be a great investment. You can make smoothies anywhere! They are also great for mixing your smoothie up again if it separates, keeping every sip tasty and evenly blended the whole way through!
  • Glass or BPA free plastic- Look for a smoothie maker that has a glass mixing cup or one that is made with BPA free plastic. You want to keep your smoothies pure and free form chemicals and additives.
  • Freebies– Lots of smoothie makers come with free funnels, ice cube trays or other little bonuses. Why not take advantage and grab a smoothie maker that has one of these fun freebies?

Every smoothie maker amazon sells has perks and benefits. It is important to look for those that matter the most to you. Hopefully our guide will help sort through some of these features, making it easier for you to find a smoothie maker you love!

3. Hamilton Beach Personal Blender

Hamilton Beach personal blender for shakes and smoothies is a budget friendly smoothie maker fantastic. It has a 14-ounce smoothie cup with a matching lid. Best Energy Drinks that are Healthy (Are They?) – REIZECLUB

Owing to their high doses of caffeine and sugar, energy drinks are not often viewed as the healthiest beverages in the world.

And that’s fine since energy drinks aren’t health supplements, but instead primarily provide an energy boost that’ll keep you awake and alert.

To be fair, energy drinks are only considered as harmful if you continuously abuse their purpose. This is why it’s best to choose brands that have minimal caffeine, sugar, and calories. It’s also good if the ingredients are naturally-derived, especially if you aim to drink energy drinks regularly.

In this article, I’ll be showing you what you need to know when choosing the best brand for your health and I’ll even recommend a few of my top picks!

Let’s dive in.

What You Need to Consider in Picking Healthy Energy Drinks

The ingredients of an energy drink are what make or break its overall quality. With that in mind, here are a few ingredients to keep an eye on:

Caffeine

Despite its reputation as a nasty thing, caffeine can be beneficial if taken in moderation. Caffeine is the most commonly used ingredient in energy drinks that may help you focus and stay awake during long hours of work.

Another benefit of caffeine is that it can aid in weight loss or prevent weight gain. Caffeine pushes you to move more and it can also temporarily suppress the desire to eat and, therefore, can stop you from gaining weight.

Even Harvard agrees that caffeine can bring the following benefits:

Artificial Sugars

Sucralose is a sweetener often found in sugar-free energy drinks. Since it is 600 times sweeter than sugar, the FDA controls how much of it can be included in energy drinks.

And in addition, they can help with many sugar-related problems such as diabetes and obesity. Aside from that, there was even a study on this where they assessed the different artificial sugars and agreed that artificial sugars do have benefits such as dental health care and many others.

Taurine

Taurine is an excellent addition to energy drinks. It is a naturally occurring amino acid in your body that can be found in your heart, brain, and muscles, all of which are considered vital to your body’s functions.

On the plus side, it is safe for up to 3000 mg per day, so you shouldn’t be concerned unless the energy drink suddenly has 1000mg of taurine, which is an uncommon occurrence.

Taurine can stimulate your brain and improve nerve growth, making it a popular component in energy drinks. And don’t believe the rumors that Taurine is from bull sperm either! The Taurine that is added to the drinks is synthetically-produced.

For a closer look at Taurine and its benefits, check out this video

Ginseng

Ginseng has been shown to enhance the immune system, combat fatigueand raise energy levels, to name just a few of its benefits.

The name “Ginseng” is derived from the Chinese term “renshen,” which means “ginseng root.” Ginseng is mainly found in North America and eastern Asia, such as Korea, Bhutan, and East Siberia.

Although Ginseng might have minimal side effects, you don’t need to be concerned. They might be anything from restlessness to anxiety, to be more precise.

However, this is only applicable if you take them in large doses or for an extended period. Still, personally, I don’t find the side effects to be too bothersome.

A man wearing a gray shirt who is masaging his forehead.
The most common adverse effects of Ginseng include headaches, dizziness, and an upset stomach, which isn’t as awful as that can come out of some other ingredients.

Effects of Energy Drinks on Your Body

Pro

There are several advantages that energy drinks may bring, and the following are a few of them.

  • Energy booster
  • Improves mood
  • Good source of B vitamins
  • Improves focus and alertness

Energy drinks can give you a boost when you’re feeling down since they’re mostly filled with sugar and caffeine. These two ingredients are responsible for giving you that much-needed kick for the day.

To add to that, you should consider picking out an energy drink full of B vitamins. Since your energy metabolism is greatly aided by the presence of B vitamins, this makes it possible for energy drinks to include far more than the recommended daily quantity without posing a risk to its consumers.

Cons

Energy drinks might be regarded as harmful if they’re taken in excess instead of in proper amounts. This indicates that you will be ingesting more than indicated based on caffeine, sugar, and several other ingredients.

Excessive consumption of energy drinks may lead to some rather severe adverse effects such as:

Those are just some of the minor side effects but there are also more serious complications because of prolonged and excessive consumption of energy drinks, such as:

  • Kidney stones
  • High blood pressure
  • Death
  • Miscarriage
  • Caffeine overdose

With these dangers in mind, make a mental note of how much you are drinking and make sure not to exceed the maximum amount of allowable caffeine or sugar each day.

What is the Cleanest Drink for Energy?

Naturally-sourced ingredients are often included in clean energy drinks and they are designed to boost mental and physical performance, which is exactly what the Yerba Mate brand wants to accomplish.

In addition to caffeine, it has a variety of other, like antioxidants, that may help keep you awake and alert throughout the day.

Yerba mate tea contains roughly 90% more antioxidants than green tea, making it one of the cleanest drinks you can have when you need a little more power.

Which Energy Drink is the Least Healthy?

I’d have to say that the high sugar level of Full Throttle makes it a less-than-healthy option for an energy drink.

When it comes to sugary energy drinks, Full Throttle has the most sugar per 16 fl. oz. can at 55g. For instance, 55g of sugar is around four teaspoons of sugar, which is not something you want to take daily since sugar can cause various health complications.

In addition, a single can of Full Throttle exceeds the AHA’s recommended daily sugar consumption. With this, it’s also possible that its high sugar content can cause a sugar crash, which might leave you feeling weary and depleted after consuming a can of this drink.

Full Throttle energy drinks should be taken in moderation to avoid adverse side effects. I’d recommend no more than two or three cans each week to keep tabs on your total sugar consumption.

The ingredients label on the side of a Full Throttle energy drink.
This photo shows the complete list of ingredients included in Full Throttle energy drinks.

Best Energy Drinks that are healthy

Now that we have that all covered, here are the best energy drinks that I think would not negatively affect your health. Make sure to check out REIZE, my personal go-to beverage.

Energy Drink Caffeine Sugar Calories
Zipfizz 100 mg 0 g 20 cal
Advocare Spark 120 mg 0 g 15 cal
REIZE (10 out of 10) 50 mg 0 g 11 cal
A table of the best healthy energy drinks with their caffeine, sugar, and calories.

Zipfizz

Zipfizz has just 100 milligrams of caffeine and no added sugar, making it a better alternative to other energy drinks. The best part is, it comes in those cute little tubes that are easy to take anywhere.

With a lot of vitamins in it, Zipfizz is an excellent addition to your regular vitamin consumption. For $2.25 per serving, it isn’t the cheapest, but it’s not the most pricey, either.

Advocare Spark

Another powdered energy drink, Advocare Spark, is pretty healthy in terms of ingredients and overall taste. It is slightly more potent in caffeine with 120 mg of caffeine. However, technically the amount of caffeine is still alright and well within the recommended limit.

This is because the maximum amount of caffeine that an individual can drink each day is 400mg, and 120 mg is slightly more than 25%.

Also, Advocare Spark is sugar-free and made use of some artificial sugars such as sucralose.

For pricing, even though it is more potent than Zipfizz, it is actually cheaper, costing about $2.20 per serving excluding shipping. That makes Advocare Spark a pretty good deal for an energy drink.

REIZE (10 out of 10)

REIZE, I say, is the healthiest option in this list. This is due to the numerous benefits and advantages it offers.

For one, it only contains 50mg of caffeine, that’s perfect for anyone as it is just the right amount, not too much, not too little.

Not to mention that you would have to drink 8 cups of REIZE for you to exceed your caffeine limit of the day. That’s equivalent to the amount of water you should drink each day, so I doubt you would be drinking that much.

REIZE is also sugar-free, which is great because you never have to watch your sugar. To add to that, it also contains some pretty great ingredients, including Ginseng and taurine, which I had already mentioned above.

And the best part? It is only $1 per sachet and you can even have your orders shipped straight to your door. Talk about an energy drink that is a practical value for your money!

What are you waiting for? Get REIZE now!

A pack and a glass of REIZE energy drink.
A cold glass of REIZE energy drink by the beach is all you need for the summer.

Other energy drinks you should try:

Verdict

While energy drinks are not exactly what you define as “healthy,” they do provide you the advantages you need for that healthy lifestyle. Still, you must be aware of the suitable dose for your age and health situation to prevent eventual regrets.

The trick is to look closely at the ingredients of the energy drinks and their amounts. Caffeine, sugar, and calories should be as minimal as possible to avoid negative side effects. It’s also a plus if the ingredients are organic!

Of course, out of all the drinks I’ve tried, nothing can beat REIZE as it ticks off all the boxes in my checklist. But nevertheless, moderate your intake and maintain proper diet and exercise for a true healthy lifestyle!

Red Velvet Smoothie – Dessert Smoothie with a Healthy Twist!

red velvet smoothie

Today I’m giving you a smoothie recipe loaded with rich chocolate flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. Plus, it’s got a velvety texture that you want in a creamy dessert. Where does it get that lovely red color, you ask? Why a little bit of beet! (Don’t worry, you can’t even taste it.) This luscious red smoothie satisfies my sweet tooth, gives me natural energy and provides a festive treat to share with a loved one.

Don’t let the spinach fool you. If you’re looking for a dessert smoothie, then this is a winner!

delicious red smoothie

Red Velvet Smoothie Recipe

I like blending my smoothies in two steps for the smoothest result. First, blend spinach and coconut milk (canned or carton, your choice) until smooth. If you’re not using a high-speed blender, then whip the canned coconut milk before adding to the blender to stir the fat into the liquid.

Then add the strawberries (frozen), Medjool dates, beet, cacao powder and vanilla extract to the blender. Blend until smooth.

If you’re serving this as a dessert, feel free to add a dollop of coconut whipped cream to the top and turn it into a festive shake.

Tips for the Best Blend

To ensure the Medjool dates are thoroughly blended, let your blender run on medium speed for a bit, then slowly increase to high. If you’re using a non-high-powered blender, swap the dates with maple syrup for an easier blend.

Canned coconut milk (full-fat or light) gives you a milkshake texture. The beet adds the iconic deep red velvet color. You can also swap it with beet powder.

Using frozen strawberries ensures a refreshingly cool red velvet smoothie, or you can refrigerate before serving (give it a good shake).

dessert smoothie recipe

Sweetener Swaps for Dessert Smoothies

I love the caramel flavor of Medjool dates, but you could use several natural sweeteners for this red smoothie. Here are a few more options:

Maple Syrup– Use two tablespoons of maple syrup to replace two dates. Maple syrup is a great swap if you’re not using a high-powered blender.

Date syrup– This newer sweetener is a great option too! Start with one tablespoon, then add more to taste.

Banana– ¼ a banana (fresh or frozen) can add creaminess along with sweetness. It’s a great swap if you’re using carton coconut milk.

Red Velvet Smoothie FAQs

What kind of coconut milk is best for smoothies?

It depends on the texture you want. Canned coconut milk gives a thicker, creamier texture. Carton coconut milk is much thinner and offers a tropical taste when paired with other tropical fruits like pineapple and dragon fruit.

Should I use cocoa or cacao in smoothies?

I recommend unsweetened cocoa or cacao in smoothies. Both are great options with a slightly different taste. It’s up to you to determine which you like better. Just make sure they are unsweetened; no need to add in extra sugar.

How do I make a red velvet smoothie?

Blend spinach and coconut milk until smooth. Add strawberries, Medjool dates, beet, cacao powder and vanilla extra to the blender and blend again until smooth. Pour into a fancy glass and enjoy!

The Best Blue Lagoon Mocktail (With a Healthy Version)

This beautiful blue mocktail is non alcoholic and tastes just as good as it looks. With a healthy and classic version, you can enjoy this virgin blue lagoon in any way you please.

I’ve had so many requests for a blue lagoon mocktail over the last 18 months but I never quite knew how to approach this drink. A traditional Blue Lagoon has blue curaçao, lemonade and vodka – so essentially full of sugar and booze. It doesn’t really fit with my motto of ‘drink yourself healthy’.

So I went on the hunt for other ways to recreate this classic and ended up with a healthy-ish version and a not so healthy version. Both are just as simple as the original, and just as delicious too!

Note: the mocktail in this post is the healthy version made with blue spirulina. If you use the blue curacao syrup, the tint of blue will be slightly different.

What Does a Blue Lagoon Mocktail Taste Like?

When it’s made properly, this classic drink will taste refreshing and sweet. With it’s delicious flavor and striking colour, it’s like capturing summer in a glass.

If you’re a sweet tooth, you’ll love the original (aka ‘not-so-healthy’) version of the recipe. To be honest, it’s a touch too sweet for me, I much prefer healthy, low sugar mocktails.

The healthier version is still sweet (it’s made with sugar-free lemonade), but not as sweet as the original. Blue spirulina gives the drink it’s incredible colour, making it a perfect blue mocktail recipe for baby showers. Always consult your doctor before taking spirulina while pregnant.

How to make it

The classic version

A classic blue lagoon is made with blue curacao syrup, lemonade and vodka. It’s usually served in a tall glass with a tropical fruit garnish.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon blue curaçao syrup
  • 1oz/30mls of your favorite alcohol-free spirit, preferably non alcoholic vodka (optional)

Method

Pour the blue curaçao syrup and the alcohol-free spirit of your choice (if you’re using it) into your glass and slowly top with lemonade. Stir gently, add ice, garnish, and serve.

The healthy version

Healthy blue spirulina creates that iconic blue color in this recipe. With low sugar lemonade and your choice of alcohol free spirit, this easy mocktail can be whipped up in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon blue spirulina : I buy mine from health food shops and it can also be purchased online.
  • 1 cup sugar free/low sugar lemonade
  • 1 shot of your favorite alcohol-free spirit (optional)

If you don’t like the idea of using lemonade, any pale liquid will work. Think tonic water, pale kombucha, etc.

Place the blue spirulina in your glass then add the lemonade. Stir gently. You might find the drink foams up a bit as the 2 ingredients react with each other, so just scoop the foam out – although my boys thought this was ‘supercool’ and wanted to eat it instead!

Add your favorite alcohol-free spirit if using and stir again.

Add ice, garnish, and serve.

Frequently asked questions

Is blue curaçao syrup alcoholic?

I am regularly asked – does blue curacao have alcohol? While the liqueur blue curaçao is alcoholic, most blue curaçao syrups are non-alcoholic. They add the color and flavor of the liqueur without any alcohol. Be sure you check the label on the brand you choose though just in case.

What type of glass should I serve a Blue Lagoon Mocktail in?

The traditional glass for this classic cocktail is the hurricane glass. This is sometimes referred to as a tulip glass. If you don’t have a tulip glass, try a highball glass instead.

What garnish should I use?

There are many ways to garnish your virgin Blue Lagoon, the sky really is the limit. Lemon or orange slices are always an excellent choice. You can serve it with either of those plus a couple maraschino cherries thrown in for good measure.
For something more floral and fancy, orchid blossoms will look incredible and add that WOW-factor. But if that’s too much for you, mint sprigs will add that herbal, bespoke touch.

I hope you enjoy your blue lagoon mocktail as much as I enjoyed creating it!
